Week Thirty-Four--We Love Our Mothers!

Theme:  Mothers

Letters Review:  We played Lower-case Alphabet Bingo

Recess:  We've enjoyed playing outside in the backyard this week since the weather has been so nice!

Snacks:
  • Graham Crackers & Apple Slices
  • Corn Pops & Cheese Sticks
  • Pizza
  • Strawberries, Sugar Snap Peas, Brownies, & Crackers
  • Watermelon, Strawberries, Cake Pops, & Popcorn

Books:
  • Time for a Bath by Steve Jenkins
  • Duckling Gets a Cookie by Mo Williams
  • Guess How Much I Love You by Sam Mcbratney

Science:  Many of you have seen our "butter-pillar".  We have loved having him in our classroom.  Since he cannot fly, it has been fun to hold him and observe him eating with his long tongue.  His eyes are also interesting to notice as they are quite large for his body and are camouflaged quite well.

Music & Movement:
  • Mother I Love You
  • Mother, May I?
  • Red Light, Green Light
  • Elephant Stampede
  • Octopus Song
Coldstone Ice Cream Field Trip: "I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream For Ice Cream!"

Reading/Writing:  Mother's Day Letters
I gave them the writing prompt, "I love my mom.  She is..."  I had four adjectives (nice, pretty, perfect, fun) to choose from and each child chose one of them to write about his/her mother.  It was cute to watch several of them read over what they had written.

Art:  Mother's Day Sachets
The children decorated the bags and filled them with lavender.  Most of the children chose to sew their bags up.  We hope you all feel loved!

Birthdays:  We celebrated three birthdays this week!  We really love our birthday dance!
