All About Me!

Theme: Each of us is important and a Shining Star

Choosing Time: Puzzles, Foam Puzzle Blocks, & Trio Blocks
This is a super cute group. They like to work together. We all worked on building different things for one another. We practiced team work and patience.

Lesson: We sat in a circle and shared our Show & Tell items. I then showed them a special box. I explained there was a shining star inside that is magnificent. I went around the circle allowing each child to peek at the amazing shining star. It was so cute to see smiles as recognition that what they were looking at were themselves in a mirror. We had a magnetic story about the Mixed-up Chameleon. We learned that it is great to be ourselves!

Recess: So cute to see friendships being formed:)

Snack: Thank you Leo for being our "Helping Hand" today! We enjoyed yummy crackers and cheese and fruit snacks.

Art: We made Salt Dough and cut out star shapes. We noticed that it is similar to play-doh. Some noticed the dough was rough and dry. Unfortunately, these didn't cook as quickly as I'd thought. We will paint them next week!

Science: A couple of us found a slug in the backyard. We put it into a bowl and brought it inside to examine. We used a magnifying glass to get a great look. We noticed the slug's antennae. We noticed how a slug and a snail are similar and yet different. We watched the slug move without feet. The slug could also move straight up as if it was sitting on its bum.

Music & Movement: Twinkle Twinkle Little Star (A star has 5 points. We moved in "star" ways), Oh, Here We Are Together, Little House, Donkey Song.

Books: The Mixed-Up Chameleon by Eric Carle

Art: " Self-Portraits" I compiled a class book with each of our pictures in it. I read the book to them. We discussed what components make up a face. We drew our faces.

  1. I posted a comment yesterday. Hmm. Weird. Just wanted to say Van has loved pre-school. LOVED it and told me all about the star and the mirror and going outside and he just loves it, Jodi. Thank you.
