Choosing Time: Star Wars Minis, Big Brick Blocks, Space Suits & Shoes, Space Books, Buzz Puzzle
Music: I Want To Go To Outer Space, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Hey Diddle Diddle
Movement: As we learned about each planet we chose some actions that represented each one. For example, Mercury is either boiling hot or freezing. We pretended our feet were burning and had to run fast...We also did a "Space" Dance as aliens might (The Macarena).
AM Snack: Fruit Snacks & Cheese & Crackers
PM Snack: Cheese Sticks & Wheat Thins
Book: There's No Place Like Space by
We also looked at several books about space with authentic pictures.
Science: We made a "rocket" using an air-tight container, Alka-Seltzer, and a little H2O. We talked how the medicine mixes with the water and makes bubbles. The bubbles grow and push the lid off of the container. The gas pressure is what makes rockets launch.
Lesson: We have 8 planets: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, & Neptune
The Sun is an enormous Star. We should never look directly at it. The moon is like a mirror and reflects the sun's light for us at nighttime. Earth is our planet. The Earth is always spinning even though we can't feel it.
